That would be me. The founder and owner of Kim Archer - workshops @ home.

I’ve been involved in the scrapbook industry since discovering the craft in January 2003 after picking up a scrapbook magazine in the newsagency.

In an instant my life changed direction. I had discovered this whole other world existed out there. A world filled with photography, patterned paper, cardstock, embellishments and like minded people.

When I was a kid I was always making things. I would cut and paste and make books filled with photos and stories and all sorts of bits and pieces. In my own way I was scrapbooking way back then. I just didn’t know it. Now the craft has become much more sophisticated with so many products, opportunities and fun things to share and learn. And I am still making things. And cutting and pasting!

My background is in graphic arts and I also ran a ceramic studio for eight years before leaving all that behind to work in the scrapbook industry.

My scrapbooking journey has been varied, unexpected and exciting. I have been fortunate enough to work with Pride Publishing as one of four members of their inaugural Elite team. This allowed me to write articles for For Keeps magazine, create projects and co-author the book Celebrate with the 2004 Elite Team. I also had the opportunity of tutoring at a number of different Inspiration Scrapbook Conventions. I was chosen as a member of the 2005 Scrapbooking Masters team for Scrapbooking Memories magazine and have had my work published both here regularly in Australia and in the US.

I was also one of the founders of Urban Lily Pty Ltd and co-designed their first range of scrapbooking papers in 2005. While I am no longerĀ a co-owner of Urban Lily I am still involved as part of the Design Team as well as a Design Team member for the online store scrapboxx.com.au

I LOVE the teaching aspect of scrapbooking.

I love to design classes, share ideas and see people’s reactions when they discover they really can be creative. Having taught at many retreats, conventions and stores around Australia has led me to my latest endeavour - online workshops.

Early in 2006 I hit upon the idea of running a LIVE step by step scrapbooking class via my blog. I wanted it to be in real time and I wanted the experience to be as close as possible to being in a real life class. I wanted each participant to have access to detailed step by step instructions and see step by step photos of the project as they worked through the class. No one else was really doing online classes here in Australia at the time and from the very first class I advertised, the response and support from the scrapbooking community was amazing!

After teaching online classes through my blog for over a year, I had outgrown my little blog classroom and it was time to create a custom built classroom dedicated to online classes. And so in 2007 my virtual classroom website was launched.

I have BIG plans for this website, a great team with me and a commitment to providing fun, interactive online classes. And while we specialise in scrapbooking projects we will also offer a variety of other craft workshops including cardmaking, stamping, stitching and patchwork!

I look forward to meeting you in a workshop sometime soon.
